Wait, what? It is? I have been living a lie as a .NET dev! battery isolator
That is a webapp with almost none of the features that make digg great. You can't post comments, you can only read the top 5 comments on a story. All you can do is read stories. The full website does not function properly on iPhone/iPod Touch, you get something called a "tooltip error", and it crashes safari every few minutes. An actual Digg iPhone/iPod Touch app would solve all of these problems.
electric cars are the same as any car. where does this electricity come from??? fossil fuels!!!
So now we really blow, huh?
It's not going to be something that happens overnight. It will be a slow transition, and the power industry will adapt accordingly. It's not like people are going to rush out to buy electric cars. There have to be enough outlets to fuel their transportation lifestyle. Likewise, it's not likely that outlets and charging stations are going to start popping up in parking lots unless a lot of people have electric cars. It'll build up slowly. If this happens at the same time as new energy movements develop, like the new Texas wind initiative, then this could be a comprehensive solution to our energy crisis. Economics, however, will be the (notoriously slow) driver for this sort of change, and all of this also rests on what gas prices do. It will be interesting to watch, but it's going to be observed over decades, not overnight.
I live in Portland OR, there is a sign outside the parking garage by my work that indicates car recharging stations inside.
