They're having a hard time because it's NPR and just a little bit over their heads. I hate adults with 6th grade reading levels.

I can tell you that! how about oil? I mean, what would happen to the people who control that? If the aliens would bring us energy sources BESIDES our oil etc, then, no oil will be sold. Think about that one. and, I can tell you many more reasons. Do you REALLY think we, earthlings are the only living creatures in the universe? That is what I call ignorent... I know we are not alone. Take just an average night, look up in to the sky, and I will BET you, that you will see a ´flying star ´passing by. Tell me, what is that then.

Seriously, stopp with this "don't you have to use the terminal" stuff - you can download .debs and double click them, you can use the Synaptics package manager or you can use the Add/Remove Programs application (with a simplified interface and pretty icons to make things easier for first time users). You do not have to use the terminal for any remotely every-day task on Ubuntu. It's there because it's more efficient in many circumstances if you take the time to learn it, and if a problem does occur it makes it easier to solve it (whereas on Windows you have to play with the registry or just wipe and start fresh).

the problem is your spokespeople endlessly and militantly insist that nuclear reactors are safe and disaster proof when it just isn't the case... And I'm not talking about Chernobyl (which someone can't even talk about with nuclear proponents are they start screaming at you all these reasons why that wouldn't happen in America) I'm talking about frequent radioactive water leaks in nuke plants in japan, the north east US, etc., radioactive waste material being used by terrorists, no acceptable solution for storing the waste, etc...
Sockpuppets is now reading praisethelard's comments and pondering a witty retort.
